Laramie County Government and the City of Cheyenne have partnered on two projects resulting in the creation of GPS base stations and a reference network that are available to the local surveying community.
Continually Operating Reference Station (CORS) – WYLC at LCCC
Leica Real Time Network
The Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) at Laramie County Community College was installed through the efforts of the Professional Land Surveyors of Wyoming Southeast Chapter, Laramie County Community College, the Bureau of Land Management/Wyoming State Office and the Cheyenne/Laramie County Cooperative GIS Program. This station is managed by the Wyoming NGS representative and correction files are served through the National Geodetic Survey. Click here for more information.
A real time reference network was established in 2008 in an effort to help the GIS technicians improve the accuracy of the GIS Cooperative data framework or grid. This network uses Leica Geosystems technology and is managed by Hixon Mfg. & Supply of Fort Collins, Colorado. Access to the network can be arranged by contacting Hixon at www.hixonmfg.com. Station hosts include the City of Cheyenne, Gilchrist Elementary School (Laramie County School District #1), Burns Jr/Sr High School (Laramie County School District #2) and Chugwater Schools (Platte County School District).
